Guided Tour to Green Iguana
Exhibit
The Green Iguana Exhibit
is a spacious enclosure featuring many varieties of tropical
plants and flowers where bright, green Iguanas seek
shelter as well as bask in full sun. Visitors have a chance to
hold an iguana while getting to know more about their anatomy
and how they learn to survive in the wild. The effort of this
program is to create a deeper appreciation for the Green
Iguana and its riverine habitat. The Iguanas are raised at the facility for one

Guided Tour to Medicinal &
Jungle Trails
The Tropical Wetland
Forest along the Macal River is dense and lush with hundreds
of species of plants. Clean pathways lead you through
some 14 acres where many medicinal plants and herbs
traditionally used by the local are pointed out. Your guide will explain which
plants are used for different ailments and how to prepare these plant
as medicine.

Guided Bird Watching &
Hiking
Early morning is best for
Bird watching. There are over 175 bird species already recorded
on site, some are common and others are quite rare. Using the
properties private hiking trails and riverbank, a birder can get
good sightings of toucans, tanagers, orioles, hummingbird and
many others in just a couple of hours. The balcony decks also offer

| MAYAN ARCHEAOLOGICAL SITES |

Xunantunich & Cahal
Pech
A short ten-minute drive to
the village of San Jose Succotz and a quick river crossing on the
Mopan River Ferry, takes you to one of the highest Mayan Temple
in the vicinity. Well-preserved stucco masks flank the sides
of El Castillo, the tallest structure on site. Climbing to the

Caracol
Belize’s largest and highest temples lie
peacefully in the Tropical Rain Forest of the Chiquibul
National Reserve. Ongoing research is shining much light
on the history of this immense City now mostly covered by the
forest. Abundant wildlife, including Jaguars and Scarlet Macaw live
in the reserve. Waterfalls, pools and caves of the Mountain
Pine Ridge are other attraction that are also a part of this
tour.

Tikal

Canoeing

Mountain Pine Ridge Forest
Reserve
One of Central America
oldest landmark is the exposed granite of the Mountain Pine
Ridge. Here dozens of streams cut through the shallow soils
creating cascading waterfalls and natural pools
to
swim in. Breath taking vistas and nature trails take you
through enchanting caves such as
Rio Frio and Closing Jaw
Caves.

Actun Tunichil
Muknal (ATM Cave)
Located in the Tapir
Mountain Forest Reserve, an hours drive from San Ignacio Town,
Actun Tunichil Muknal is one of the most spectacular caves in
the region. The hour hike, just to get to the cave’s entrance is in
itself an adventure, traversing knee
deep through streams while shadowed by the towering forest-canopy above. The cave holds
the remains of many Sacred Mayan rituals, offerings and
the remains of human sacrifices.
Only certified guides can conduct
this tour and the use of safety equipment is mandatory. Several
criteria need to be met by persons interested in doing this tour.

Caves Branch
Tubing
Caves Branch River
Tubing is an educational and adventure activity. It entails a
short hike for thirty minutes to an hour, depending on how much
of the cave system you are interested in floating through. The
Cave Branch River cuts through jagged, limestone mountains,
revealing an intricate cave system adorned with captivating cave
formations. The waters are cool and refreshing, and guests
can relax on their inflated tube as they drift through this

Barton Creek Cave
Tour
Barton Creek Cave Tour is
quite a special tour since it can combine hours of canoeing in
the cave and inner tubing as well. The main cannel is over 3
miles long and the roof is over 90 feet high in places. Ledges
holds the remain of Ancient Mayan Rituals and cave
formation of many shape and color adorn the roof and walls.
This activity does not require significant physical activity and since
the channel is quite wide, it does not give the feeling of
close spaces. Large spot lamps are used to illuminate the high
roof and guests have the opportunity to take pictures.
Using the same route taken in, guests have the opportunity to inner
