Birding Package Includes - All all tours as listed, fees, private guide, transportation, accommodations.
All meals are included for days 1 through 5.

Days 6-10 include breakfast only. Also includes water-taxi to Ambergirs Caye and return flight from Ambergris Caye to Belize City Airport.

Day 1 - AIRPORT/SAN IGNACIO RESORT HOTEL

You will be met at the airport by your birding guide and transferred to
San Ignacio Resort Hotel located in San Ignacio Town in the Cayo District. On the way, there will be opportunities for birding, as we drive through a number of habitats such as, mangrove-swamps, pine-savannahs and finally jungle.

After a short orientation, check into you accommodations at San Ignacio Resort Hotel.

Day 2 - CPVR / MACAL RIVER

Morning /
Pre-breakfast bird-walk on the grounds at nearby Cahal Pech Archeological site. Some of the birds we hope to see include Tanagers, Tityras, Parrots and Parakeets. After a late breakfast, easy morning to hang out and explore the area on your own,

Afternoon /
Canoeing on the Macal River - We will be shuttled 12 miles upstream and will float down by canoe to San Ignacio Town. While canoeing we have the chance to see Neotropic Cormorants, Mangrove Swallows, Kingfishers, Gray-necked Wood Rails and other wildlife that frequent the riverbanks. Very common to see large iguanas sunning themselves on the rocks and in the trees. We arrive back at Cahal Pech before dark.

Day 3 - CPVR / CARACOL

Morning -
Early departure for Caracol Ruins. We will be making a number of birding stops along the way. We arrive at Caracol, have breakfast and bird for a few hours before lunch.

The scenic drive traverses through the Mountain Pine Ridge area. The road travels over a series of creeks, through lush tropical and pine forest habitat, offering a variety of bird local species. The highest canopy rainforest is home to several species of cats, as well as rare birds such as the Keel-Billed Mot Mot, Crested Guan, Great Curassow and the Oscillated Turkey. A wide variety of orchids, vines and trees are also found in the area.

Afternoon -
After lunch we start making our way back towards the Rio Frio Caves and pools in the Mountain Pine Ridge. After a fun filled day we return to our accommodations at
SAN IGNACIO RESORT HOTEL in time for dinner.

Day4 - FREE DAY

Day 5 - LAGUNA AGUACATE/ CPVR

Morning -
After an early breakfast we drive to Laguna Aguacate near a Mennonite community. Due to the different habitats this makes for a good birding destinations consisting of savannah, open farmland, and sub-tropical forest around the lake. In the open land and pastures it is easy to site Vermillion, Flycatchers, Fork-tailed Flycatchers, Yellow-rumped Warblers, White-tailed Kites, Laughing Falcons, Eastern Meadowlarks and Northern rough-wing Swallows.

Afternoon -
After seeing a number of birds and a late lunch at a Mennonite’s buffet-style restaurant, we return to SAN IGNACIO RESORT HOTEL. Free rest of the afternoon to explore San Ignacio Town.

Days 6-9 - SAN IGNACIO RESORT HOTEL / BELIZE CITY/ AMBERGRIS CAYE

We drive to Belize City to meet our water taxi to Ambergris Caye.

We spend the next few days exploring the Caye in search of birds such as the magnificent Frigatebird. Your stay on Ambergris Caye includes one day of organized birding.

NOTE: Prices for Accommodations on Ambergris Caye/San Pedro are not include in this Sample Package price, however we have a number of options for places to stay and will be happy to recommend them to you including Banana Beach Resort in San Pedro.

Snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and other trips options can be arranged for after your arrival, at an additional cost.

Day 10 - AMBERGRIS CAYE / BELIZE CITY

Depart Ambergris Caye via Airplane to the Belize International for you return flight home or onward destination.
