Itinerary
DAY ONE
Participants arrive at Belize International Airport. Transfer to light aircraft
for jungle top flight to our private airstrip in the Cayo district. road transit to jungle riverside rustic lodgings for over nights stay and initial jungle survival training.
1500 hrs - Introduction of our maya bushmasters and support crew, discussion of
activities of the programme for the next seven days including, identification of both friendly and non-friendly wildlife we could possibly encounter in the jungle, identifying important plants and their uses, improvising ways of collection of water and it's purification, first aid using medicinal plants, fire stand construction, collection of
plant and fruits that are consumable, shelter and bush craft bed construction and outline the programme for next day activities.
1830 -2000 hours - Dinner at the jungle lodge ,and after the dinner get packed ready to be transferred into the CHIQUIBUL RAINFOREST next morning.
DAY TWO
0600-0730 hrs - Breakfast
0830 hrs - Final shopping in San Ignacio town.
1100 hrs -Transit by road to the Chiquibul Jungle Zone, reaching camp at about 1030
hrs. Safety brief of the area, followed by machete handling and cutting methods. Instruction on starting a fire without matches, flints or other 'traditional' tools.
1200-1300 hrs - Lunch
1300 hrs - Construction of shelter and bush craft bed. Training in the art of producing
and placing of animal and bird traps, 'hands on' identification of jungle growth plants that are suitable for human consumption and their medicinal benefits. Proceed to river for instruction on basic fishing techniques with traps you have made in camp.
Following this exercise you will have the opportunity to kayak on the river for some brief R&R.
1600-1730 hrs - Dinner followed by camp fire gathering and story telling by your
Maya bushmasters.
DAY THREE
0600-0730 hrs - Breakfast
Identification in the recognition of various animal and human tracks found
in the jungle, instruction on how to read and follow such tracks. Collection of jungle fruits/vegetables along with water collection continues throughout. Practice of cooking using only jungle material, set out traps for birds and animals. Demonstration
of extraction of the prized heart of a cohune tree to that has the texture
and flavor of cabbage. It can also be used to produce acceptable tea drinks.
DAY FOUR, FIVE & SIX
Last breakfast at 6 to 7:30 am
08:00 hrs - Now it is time to put into practice what you have learned for the past few days and live in the jungle and make use of the available materials provided in the surrounding area,
DAY SEVEN
Our Maya jungle guides will locate your 'survival' locations and guide you out of the jungle. We will regroup at camp site, debrief on the events of last few days, of the jungle survival. get ready for extraction at 2 pm, load up the LAND ROVER and be driven back to San Ignacio, for great night in your lodge.
DAY EIGHT
Final opportunity to obtain mementos of your visit to our country, prepare
for overland transit to Belize International airport and your departing flights.
