Spotting
scope and binoculars are always available at Crystal
Paradise resort ground and on tours. Of course
you do not have to go on a tour to go birding. Jeronie
would be more than happy to identify them with
you on an early morning or late evening walk at the
lodge.
Crystal Paradise Birding

The following
is a sample Birding Package Tour. We can
customize a package tour to fit your preferences? A
Bird checklist of Belize is provided to
all guests to keep a record of their sightings.
Birding
Tour 6 days/ 5 nights/ $799.00
Day 1 ~
You will be met in Belize City or the International
Airport, and then transferred by road to Crystal
Paradise Resort. Allow 1½ hrs drive plus any
additional birding time. The drive passes
through various habitats such as Mangroves swamps,
savannahs, and jungle - bush.
Day 2 ~
Morning: Early birding on the grounds for the early
risers. Coffee and fresh juices are ready as early
as daybreak for birders. Spotting scopes are available
on the deck. Guided tour of the grounds at your
own pace as we sight parrots hummingbirds, warblers
just to name a few.
Afternoon: Canoe
trip down the scenic Macal River. Sightings of boat
billed herons, night herons, Squirrel cuckoo and
wood rails are common. Many iguanas can be seen
sunning themselves on the rocks and trees. Tours
generally finish after nightfall.
Day 3 ~
Depart Crystal Paradise after an early breakfast
for a visit to Caracol
the largest Maya site in Belize. Situated deep in
the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, where evident pristine
rainforest remain. Possible sightings of orange
breast falcon, siskins, and warblers.
Stops along the way include:
Mountain Pine
Ridge Reserve and other favorite birding
spots. Tour at the Caracol site last 2-4 hours depending
on the groups preferences. Along the way count on
stops at the Rio Frio Cave and the Rio
On Pools, for a refreshing swimming.
Day 4 ~ After
breakfast enjoy birding along the way to Laguna
Aguacate. Visit Mennonite community, savannahs,
farmland and rainforest. Canoe the lake in search
for water birds such as black bellied whistling
ducks, anhingas, herons and kingfishers.
Buffet lunch at the Mennonite community.
Free afternoon for shopping in San Ignacio along
with birding at
Cahal Pech, a Maya site, Later walk
or drive to where the Macal and Mopan Rivers merge.
A popular spot for birds.
Day 5 ~
Free Morning. Hike the trails at Crystal Paradise
or walk to a picturesque waterfalls
for a swim. Late afternoon birding at
El Pilar. Return to resort after witnessing
a Cayo sunset atop a pyramid.
Day 6 ~
Return transfer to Belize City or International
Airport. Stop at the Belize
Zoo.
