Research carried out at Green Hills by Tineke
Boomsma and Jan Meerman takes on many forms. Biodiversity inventories
for example, have led to the discovery of several new species.
Some plants but also several invertebrates. Two of these new species
now bear the name of the Green Hills Researchers! In addition,
Green Hills is one of the permanent monitoring sites for the
Maya Forest Anuran Monitoring Project.

Telebasis boomsmae
Garrison, 1994. Is a pretty orange damselfly of densely vegetated
forest ponds. Known only from the Cayo and Orange Walk Districts.

Citharacanthus meermani Reichling &
West, 2000. Is a medium sized tarantula spider (completely harmless).
So far, known only from three different sites in the Cayo District
including Green Hills.
