Belize is ideal for experiential learning, classroom and field studies where students, teachers, seniors, families or groups of friends can learn while enjoying Belize's rich bio-diversity and varied cultures.
In addition, the 45-acre garden is home to a collections of hundreds of native and exotic plant species, including native orchids, palms, tropical fruits and medicinal and other useful plants.
duPlooy's Travel Learning caters to gatherings from 6 to larger groups of 20 or more, with the opportunity to learn and have fun.
We can arrange preset group learning itineraries from 5 days to an entire semester that cover a specific educational interest.
Our Tropical Classroom is perfect for short intensive courses for credit or learning for fun. Field courses in botany, horticulture, conservation and sustainable development, ethnobotany and other related subjects can be arranged, as well as educational opportunities in a variety of other disciplines.
Nearby Maya sites and villages provide a living classroom for related subjects such as archaeology and anthropology. Volunteering - Volunteer opportunities
exist at Belize Botanic Gardens and in the surrounding community.
Other possibilities involve joining an archaeological excavation, assisting with a marine research project or rescuing rare flora.
Internships - Intern at the Belize Botanic Gardens to complete your graduate thesis or dissertation.

The Facilities
Accommodations: The Belize River House at duPlooy's Jungle Lodge offers 7 bedrooms and 4 baths. Additional units, which can accommodate up to 4 students each, are available for groups of more than 14. Private rooms are available as well.
Indoor Classroom Space:
For Classes of as many as 40 students, the Visitors' Center,
located within BBG is available.
Small classes often meet informally in the Living Room of the Belize River House or on the Bird Deck.
